Telangana Minister Demands Special Status for Andhra Pradesh

Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has demanded that the central government to grant special status for Andhra Pradesh. He reminded that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had promised special status to Andhra Pradesh during the state bifurcation in 2014.

Minister Komatireddy expressed regret that the central government has not fulfilled its promise of special status. He said that he would urge the central government to immediately grant special status to Andhra Pradesh. He also said that he would do his part to help secure special status for Andhra Pradesh.

Minister Komatireddy said that the central government had made several promises to both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh when it bifurcated the state. He said that the central government must fulfill all of its promises to both states.

Minister Komatireddy spoke to the media at the Telangana Bhavan in Delhi on Tuesday. He also said that the Telangana government would soon build a new Telangana Bhavan in Delhi. He said that he would discuss the issue of special status with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy when he returns to Hyderabad. Also, He said that he would meet the chairman of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to discuss road construction in Telangana. He said that he would request the NHAI to develop a 340-kilometer stretch of highway in Telangana into six lanes.
